What is natural rubber?

Natural rubber, also known as latex, is extracted from the sap of the rubber tree. It is one of the oldest raw materials used for the production of rubber. The material is elastic, water-resistant, environmentally friendly and long-lasting. The difference with synthetic rubber is the origin: synthetic rubber is produced from petroleum products, via chemical processes, while natural rubber is extracted from the rubber tree.
