Wool Pots

With Wool Pots, composting is a breeze: Sustainable plant or seedling pots

Wool Pots is an innovative brand that aims to reduce gardening plastic waste with their woolen seedling pots. When the founders learned that 500 million plastic pots end up in UK landfills each year, they knew something had to change! Combined with the fact that farmers now burn excess wool due to low demand, the idea for "Wool Pots" was born. Wool naturally offers many advantages, such as deterring slugs. These fully compostable seedling pots are not only eco-friendly but also practical for gardeners. Wool Pots help you move closer to planet-friendly living.

The story of Wool Pots – the woolen plant pot

Graham and Tom were shocked to discover that 500 million plastic plant pots end up in UK landfills each year! Meanwhile, wool demand continues to decline, leading to some wool being burned. With friends who were sheep farmers, Graham and Tom began thinking about better solutions to tackle both problems.

Wool Pots provides a solution that kills two birds with one stone: excess wool can help combat Europe’s plastic problem by replacing plastic pots with compostable woolen plant pots!

How does a wool seedling pot work?

These wool seedling pots can be used just like regular plastic pots: fill them with soil and plant away! One tip: place the Wool Pot on a terracotta dish to catch any excess water. Wool Pots also have unique features that make them ideal for gardening:

  • Water retention: Wool fibers absorb and retain water near the plant.
  • Slug deterrence: Slugs avoid crawling on wool, so Wool Pots naturally protect your plants without chemicals.
  • Fully compostable: This organic material breaks down completely into nutrient-rich plant food.

How are Wool Pots made?

The production process begins by collecting sheep wool from local farms. The wool is then processed without chemicals or harmful substances and knitted into eco-friendly plant pots: Wool Pots! The result is a sustainable and functional product that provides a natural environment for plant roots and decomposes naturally into rich compost.

What are the benefits of compostable seedling pots?

For the environment:

  • Fully biodegradable: Unlike plastic pots, Wool Pots do not contribute to plastic pollution.
  • Water-saving: They regulate plant moisture, reducing water usage by 20-30%!
  • Less plastic: Switching to Wool Pots reduces the demand for plastic pots and helps the planet.

For you and your plants:

  • Natural insulation: Promotes healthy root growth.
  • No cleanup required: Simply plant the pot directly in the soil; it will decompose naturally.
  • Stretchable: Wool Pots have a diameter of 9 cm but can stretch to 13 cm, making them versatile for various plants.
