What is GOTS?

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognized as the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibers. It defines high level environmental criteria throughout the supply chain of organic textiles and also requires compliance with social criteria.

What are the demands?

A product must meet various requirements.

• Fiber cultivation does not use genetically modified plants, no fertilizers and no artificial crop protection
• Cotton, wool, silk, flax and hemp are grown organically
• A garment must consist of at least 70% organic cotton to be called 'made with organic'
• A garment must consist of at least 95% organic cotton to be called 'made organic'
• A water management plan must be available in areas with water scarcity
• Working conditions for production workers are good
• Packaging is environmentally friendly
• Production is as green as possible (sustainable)
