* What do 'cruelty free' and 'PETA approved' really mean?

To be listed by PETA or carry the 'Animal Test Free' logo or the 'PETA Approved Global Animal Test Policy' logo, companies and brands must commit to never conduct, pay for or permit animal testing. This applies to the development phase, for both the ingredients and the end products. They must have agreements with their suppliers that guarantee that from the time the agreement is signed, the suppliers will never conduct, commission, pay for, or permit animal testing for the ingredients purchased by the company or brand.

This logo recognizes companies that have committed to a strict ban on animal testing from the moment they become “PETA Approved” and into the future.

How about 'Cruelty Free' and 'Vegan'?

To be considered 'cruelty-free' under PETA's Global Beauty Without Bunnies program, a company must not only prohibit animal testing, but also refuse to use ingredients of animal origin, such as honey, beeswax or carmine, in its products.
