The Story of UpCircle

This company began in 2016 with siblings Will and Anna, who both quit their jobs to fully focus on their new passion—UpCircle! A standout, groundbreaking brand dedicated to producing natural and sustainable skincare products using upcycled ingredients. The idea was sparked when Will and Anna saw the massive amounts of used coffee grounds discarded by cafes. The antioxidants in spent coffee grounds increase after use, making them ideal for products like scrubs, facial oils, and eye creams. Today, UpCircle collects used coffee grounds from an ever-growing network of cafes, giving this "waste" a second life. The first UpCircle products were born this way, and the duo began exploring what other ingredients from one industry’s waste could be repurposed into high-end products for natural skin care routines. Many milestones followed.

Milestones of UpCircle Over the Years:

• February 2018: Crowdfunding success! In just three days, Anna and Will raised enough funds to develop their products further, with incredible support from donors.
• August 2018: After refining their products, the siblings appeared on Dragons' Den, where the Dragons enthusiastically struck a deal to help them expand.
• 2019-2020: Available in major supermarkets in the UK and US.
• 2022: Plastic-negative certified! UpCircle now removes more plastic than it produces, making it a truly sustainable choice for your skincare routine.
• 2022: UpCircle goes global! Now available across Europe, Albania, and the Philippines, UpCircle is proudly featured in our webshop! A company that upcycles ingredients, focuses on a circular economy, is plastic-negative, and produces amazing skincare products—what's not to love?

It repurposes by-products and leftovers from other industries—primarily food and beverage—and uses their unique properties in a brand-new way. How Sustainable Is UpCircle?

Since its founding in 2016, UpCircle has achieved many milestones, including giving over 450,000 kg of used coffee grounds a new life in its products! Since 2022, it has been certified as a plastic-negative company, removing more plastic from circulation than it produces, helping to reduce the massive amounts of daily plastic waste. Additionally, UpCircle products are:
